2024 the Year of the Dragon

Still February

Belated Happy Lunar New Year!

As you can imagine, we're always up for a tea party.  Especially with Nonna and her crew!  Nonna invited us to her house to celebrate Lunar New Year.  We moved from the year of the rabbit to the year of the dragon.

It was my turn to look after the dragon egg Tina brought back from Nevada, so i carefully packed it and took it with us to the tea party.

While showing it to Chrissy and Karen I felt something strange.

Then she popped out!

SOOOOOOO CUTE! 💗

Isn't she adorable?!  And her name...Iolanthe.  That's pronounced I-oh-lan-thee or I-oh-lan-tee.  It means "violet flower" in Greek.  It's also the name of the main character of a Gilbert & Sullivan operetta; the character is a fairy who marries a mortal, etc. etc.  A good story; hope you check it out.

The violet flower definitely fits!!

To quote Hagrid. "Fascinating but misunderstood beasts, Harry.  Fascinating but misunderstood."

Xyra's Note

We adopted our dragon egg from OrbWeaver3D LLC.  Check out their website and/or Facebook page to see if there are any adoptions available.  If you do choose to adopt, please let them know you heard about them from Tea Time with Melody Q.

Have a great day!

April Fool's Day

Or March!

March fooled us by whipping by so fast we only got in one post!  Hoping that trend comes to an end, but we are still playing catch up.  Today Tina gets to tell about her trip to Carson City, Nevada and her visit with Gramma Enne and Opa Hans.  That was in early February!  Take it away Tina!

Flying West

Hi, all!  Tina here!  Boy was I surprised when Gramma Enne suggested I come visit, but I jumped at the chance and started to pack. It was an early drive from home to SmartPark and then to the Philadelphia International Airport.  We found a little something to eat and some hot tea and waited at the gate for our flight to board.  I loved the light fixtures.

When we got to Phoenix we didn't have a lot of time to stop to get something else to eat, but had packed snacks.  Soon we were off to Nevada.  Seems one always gets rumpled traveling; had to fix my sweatshirt.

Reno...Yay!!

Groundhog Day

By the time we woke up, Phil had already made his prediction out east in Punxsutawney!  (Side note:  did you hear Phil and Phyllis had two little babies last week? Just adorable!)

Then we went out to run some errands.  We found bubble tea and introduced Gramma Enne and Opa Hans to it.  A great place!  Bubble Tea Station Corner great staff, tasty menu, and fun decor!  Check out the selfie walls.  We did get to watch the movie, once.

Saturday - Art Day!

On Saturday, we headed into town to visit the Charlie B Gallery and VaseFinder Museum.  We had no idea there there were extra vendors along the streets today, but we first saw OrbWeaver3D and had to check out the little critters!  Gramma Enne picked out 3 butterfly frogs, I picked out an axolotl, fox, and dragon egg.  Xyra picked out a lovely howler, I mean wolf.  (Our dragon egg hatched on March 3.  Bev will share that soon.)

The gallery was great!  Lots of unique things, plus we found some PA artists featured.  In fact, Charlie B was from our area!

Then off to the Nevada Artists Association.  Where we found out the extra activities were for a wine crawl.  These are some of my favorites.  We had a great time visiting with people there.

Just outside the gallery was a tent sponsored by the Boxers and Buddies rescue.  Such wonderful people doing wonderful work to find forever homes for gorgeous pups.  If you can help in any way, reach out to them.  They gave me a great little charm for my backpack!

Sunday - Snow Day

Yep, we had snow!  And I left my winter coat at home!  Ugh!  Oh, well!  We were off to church to hear Gramma Enne play.  It wasn't far away, but there was already 3 inches of snow on the ground and the plows weren't out yet.  The church is lovely.

Then home for lunch.  We had planned to go to Chinese after church, but plans were changed because there was already another 2-3 inches on the ground.

It wasn't super cold out so I took a few photos outside to check the levels.

Then we hung out and watched movies.

After dinner we all went outside to shovel.  There was another or 6 inches!

Heading East

Thankfully the snow stopped after our shoveling.  We headed out really early to get to the airport.  Wanted to be safe on the roads.  So we saw the sunrise on the way.

Once there we found our gate and got breakfast.  The most expensive avocado toast and worst scone!  The tea was good!  Note to others, stop at McDonald's; you'll know what you're getting then.

We boarded on time then sat for quite a bit at the gate.  There were flights from Sunday weaved into the Monday schedule and we had to wait for them to clear the runway.  It was a good flight.  We read and started watching the live action Little Mermaid.  We didn't finish when we landed at Dallas Fort Worth but could pause.

Got to our next gate with 20 minutes to spare. Whew!  Then we were on our way to Philadelphia!  We finished watching the Little Mermaid.  It was really good.

Touch down in Philly.  Go BIRDS!  (giggles)

Was fun trip.  Hope you enjoyed it too.  What was your favorite photo?

Please visit us again soon!  Check out some of our older posts.
